Pfister Sisters harmony group announces 40th anniversary show at Buffa’s

This Sunday, January 5, 2020, all five members of harmony group Pfister Sisters will celebrate four decades of music in New Orleans.

Holley Bendtsen, Karen Stohr, Yvette Voelker, Debbie Davis and Suzy Malone will appear live from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buffa’s Backroom, located at 1001 Esplanade Ave. There, they’ll be joined by pianist and professor Amasa Miller as well as The Merry Ladies group from Finland. Additionally, there will be performances from special guests David McCain and Cynthia Lucas.

The Merry Ladies, a group of six, will perform Boswellian vocal tunes as well as songs in English. There is also an expected screening of clips from The Boswell Sisters film. According to the Pfister Sisters website, the group is “steeped in New Orleans traditional jazz” and they “carry on the legacy of innovative jazz vocal harmony begun by Boswell Sisters.”
