Photos: The Meters celebrate 50 years at the Orpheum Theater

All four original members of The Meters returned to the Orpheum Theater for yet another post-Jazz Fest show on Saturday, April 29. This time around the seminal New Orleans funk band celebrated 50 years, a milestone that was boosted by their induction to the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame prior to the show (take that, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). Much like last year’s Orpheum concert, Saturday’s show saw them joined by Ivan Neville, Cyril Neville, a horn section consisting of Tracy Griffin, Jeff Albert, Khris Royal and Clarence Johnson III, and others.  7come11 and DJ Quickie Mart opened the show.

Jeffrey Dupuis was on hand to capture some photos from the Orpheum on Saturday night. The Meters will reunite this coming Sunday (May 7) when they close out the Gentilly Stage at Jazz Fest.
