Last month, the Oak Street Merchants, Residents and Property Owners announced the date for this year’s Oak Street Po-Boy Festival. On Sunday, November 11, the Uptown corridor will once again close down traffic access and serve up food, music and more for thousands of fest-goers.
Four stages of music and more than 35 food vendors will be on site for this year’s annual Carrollton event, which this year will be produced by Jared Zeller, founder and producer of the annual Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo.
Headlining the 2018 Po-Boy Festival is the George Porter Trio (Terrence Houston, Michael Lemmler, and George Porter Jr.) with special guests to be announced. Also on the bill are The New Orleans Suspects, who will perform with special guest trumpeter and vocalist Jennifer Hartswick, an original member of the Trey Anastasio Band.
Morning 40 Federation, 101 Runners, The Iceman Special, In Business and The Soul Brass Band round out the full lineup. Plus, Funk Monkey featuring guitarist and vocalist Arsene DeLay, J & The Causeways, Mikey B3 and Future Cowboys will all perform on the four stages along Oak Street between Carrollton Avenue and Leake Avenue/River Road.
Returning to this year’s fest are the $5 wristbands required for the purchase of po-boys, which organizers say are implemented to “offset the cost of security and infrastructure.” They will be available for sale onsite.
