Recording Academy To Host Studio Summit For Producers And Engineers

The Grammy Recording Academy and Producers & Engineers Wing will present the fourth annual Studio Summit on Tuesday, May 1. The seven-hour event will take place at Esplanade Studios (2540 Esplanade Ave.), where doors and registration will open at 11 a.m.

The summit will kick off at 11:50 a.m. with opening remarks from the Recording Academy Memphis Chapter’s Senior Executive Director John Hornyak, followed immediately by the keynote conversation, an interview with Grammy-winning musician and producer Don Was conducted by the incomparable Alison Fensterstock, at 12 p.m.

The talks will continue on into the afternoon and evening, with panels on craft development, metadata, hip-hop production (featuring local legend Nesby Phips) and the Cosimo Matassa Family Tree (featuring Grammy-winning engineer Chris Finney). A brief closing ceremony will be held following the closing remarks at 6:20 p.m.

Admission is free with RSVP for Recording Academy members and Sync Up attendees. Free custom fitted earplugs will be provided to the first 50 eligible attendees (those with 5+ years of industry experience), courtesy of MusiCares. Appointments for fittings are limited and can be secured here.
