Shuck & Groove at the New Orleans Oyster Festival

The New Orleans Oyster Fest is coming up right around the corner and the music lineup along with all the delicious local food could not be better! The festival takes place June 1 and June 2, 2019 and is a free admission event at Woldenberg Park.

Striving to educate the country about the benefits of the Louisiana Gulf Oyster while honoring and celebrating the restaurateurs and oyster farmers who have won New Orleans the name of “Oyster Capital of America,” New Orleans Oyster Festival helps raise funds for “Coastal Restoration.”

Starting out the festival is New Orleans five-piece band, Remedy. The band will perform from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 1. Blending together their own original songs with classic 80s and 90s covers, the band is the perfect start to the weekend festival. Following them is Feufollet. The Southwest Louisiana band will play its vibrant tunes from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Cha Wa, the New Orleans funk group known for its traditional Mardi Gras Indian costumes, will shake the stage from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. With a sound like no other, Cha Wa makes music that is unique to New Orleans specifically. Following the band that day are groups and performers Maggie Koerner and Shamarr Allen & The Underdawgs.

Betty Winn & One-A-Chord will be the first on stage on Sunday, June 2, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Following her are Amanda Shaw, Bucktown Allstars and Brass-A-Holics, all bringing a different aspect of New Orleans to the stage. Closing out the whole weekend is New Orleans’ Bag of Donuts, the new inductees of the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

P&J Oyster Eating Contest will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. in between music performances. On Sunday, June 2, 2019 Acme Oyster Eating Contest will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The rest of the weekend’s cooking demonstration shows are still TBD.
