The Soul Rebels Announce Shows with Talib Kweli, GZA

The Soul Rebels will embark on a West Coast tour with veteran emcee Talib Kweli. The ensemble and the rapper will hit the road this fall as The Soul Rebels Sound System feat. Talib Kweli, but before that they’ll play another show with GZA at Electric Forest in Rothbury, MI this Friday, June 24. That performance–billed as The Soul Rebels Ft. Talib Kweli & GZA of the Wu Tang Clan–will be the band’s first with the famed Wu-Tang wordsmith.

Tour PosterThe upcoming tour marks the latest collaboration between the New Orleans brass mainstays and Talib Kweli, who joined them for a series of East Coast dates earlier this year. It also adds another line to the Soul Rebels’ growing hip-hop resumé, which already includes performances with nationally renowned acts like Joey Bada$$ and Rakim and an upcoming set with Nas.  That’s all without even mentioning their past projects with local favorites like Curren$y, Mannie Fresh and Big Freedia, or their varied collaborations beyond the world of hip-hop. Over the past few years, the band has worked big name acts like Metallica, Marilyn Manson and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, in addition to jam bands like the String Cheese Incident and Lotus.

That is what you call versatility.

On top of announcing their tour, the Soul Rebels have posted ten new videos from from a series of February 2016 shows at New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl. The clips include songs with Talib, Rakim, Joey Badass, Big Freedia, Kirk Knight, Buckshot and Smif-N-Wessun
