Still Bill: Bill Withers Documentary Screening Tonight

Tonight, The Big Top and DJ Soul Sister are hosting the premiere local screening of Still Bill, a documentary released last year about the life of Bill Withers, one of the great R&B singer/songwriters. The film was made by Damani Baker and Alex Vlack, who gathered original footage, conducted numerous interviews, and traveled with Withers to his hometown to discuss his past and his plans for the future. Withers is best known for hits like “Ain’t No Sunshine”, “Lean on Me”, “Lovely Day” and “Just the Two of Us”, although it’s his funk track “Use Me” that gets the most play from local bands in New Orleans.

There will be two screenings of the documentary, at 6 and 8:30pm, as well as complimentary jambalaya from Cook Me Something Mister and desserts from Whole Foods Market. The admission price is $10, with 100% of proceeds going to the V-Day Haiti Sorority Safe House to support female victims of the Haiti earthquake.
