“Supper Bowl Jam” to benefit Slow Food, New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation

This fall, Slow Food New Orleans will commemorate the official launch of the organization’s regional chapter with a “Supper Bowl Jam” – an evening of good food, drinks and music in partnership with the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Assistance Fund. The event, which will take place on October 1st at Rock ‘N’ Bowl, will feature food for purchase from some of the city’s top local vendors including La Divina Gelateria, Rue Chow, Frencheeze and Rock ‘N’ Bowl’s Straight Stick Ranch as well as performances by Onward Brass Band and the Full Stream Jazz Band.

Founded on the belief that every person has a fundamental right to good, conscientious-minded food, the Slow Food Movement began in 1986 under the guidance of Carlo Petrini and has since grown into a multi-national organization with active chapters in more than 100 countries. Slow Food USA today operates as a nonprofit educational entity, sponsoring programs and activities across the country geared toward improving taste education, defending biodiversity and protecting food communities. As the movement’s official New Orleans branch, Slow Food New Orleans endeavors to preserve the deep heritage of New Orleans cuisine as well as promote the city’s unique music and food culture.

Chapter representatives will be on hand for the event to educate the public as well as sell Slow Food memberships, with local chefs, restaurateurs and other food-service industry workers particularly encouraged to attend. All proceeds from the event’s $5 cover will go directly toward the organization as well as the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Assistance Foundation.
