Top Taco Returns in March for Fourth Annual Throw Down

Top Taco presented by Cerveza Modelo will return for its fourth year on March 19, 2020. This year’s event will feature 30+ restaurants and 50+ tequila and spirits offerings. This epic taco and tequila tasting festival will take place at Woldenberg Park on the riverfront in downtown New Orleans.

The night will be filled with tacos, tequila, and entertainment. OTRA and Muevelo with Margie Perez will provide live, latin music to accompany the festivities. Top Taco attendees as well as celebrity judges will decide the winners of the night’s awards for Top Creative Taco, Top Traditional Taco, Top Creative Tequila Cocktail, and Top Traditional Margarita. The festival will also offer guests pop-up bars and lounges, tequila tastings, live music, and stunning visual displays. There will also be a live auction hosted by Cooper Manning.

For a more immersive experience, there is a VIP lounge which will offer exclusive food and drinks. El Tesoro tequila puts on “A Night in Paradiso” with food and drinks graciously supplied by Dickie Brennan & Co., which includes Acorn Café, Bourbon House, Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse, Palace Café, Tableau, and Dickie Brennan & Co. Catering. Four gourmet tacos will be prepared by the Dickie Brennan and Co. culinary team for the VIP area. Additionally, bartender Andrew Bates from the Palace Café Black Duck Bar will be serving tequila cocktails for the VIP area.

Top Taco raises money for local non-profit organizations, spotlighting this year’s beneficiary, the PLEASE Foundation. The PLEASE Foundation offers mentoring, leadership training, and scholarships to at-risk high school students in New Orleans.

Confirmed restaurants include 2019 Top Taco winners Johnny Sanchez, Tacos & Beer, Barracuda, Los Jefes, and Velvet Cactus. Returning favorites like Zócalo, Araña, Flamingo A Go Go, and Nacho Mama’s will also be in attendance. New competitors include Nolé, House of Blues, Rock n Roll Sushi, Palm & Pine, Otra Vez, and Seither’s Seafood sponsored by the Louisiana Pepper Exchange.
