VIP Ladies & Kids Social Aid & Pleasure Club Second Line Parade Route + Map

This Sunday, the VIP Ladies and Kids Social Aid & Pleasure Club host their ninth-annual parade in Central City. The second line starts a little later than usual—at 12:30 p.m.—at Tapp’s II Bar on the corner of Washington and S. Rocheblave St. This year’s theme is “One Nation Under a VIP Groove.”

After coming out of Tapp’s II, the second line takes Toledano toward the river, stopping at Big Man’s Lounge just off Claiborne. It then stops at Silky’s on General Taylor before taking Marengo down to S. Saratoga and turning before another stop at The Other Place on the corner of Foucher. The parade moves back to Louisiana, going down to St. Charles to march a few blocks by the streetcar line before turning up Washington for a stop at the Turning Point Lounge.

The second line continues on Washington before turning on Lasalle and then heading back toward the river on Jackson for a stop at the Whip Appeal on the corner of Danneel. The parade then takes Oretha Castle Haley to Felicity, stopping at Edna’s house, popular in the neighborhood for candy and huckabucks, before turning upriver on Magnolia and stopping at Horace’s Bar on the corner of Third and S. Robertson. The final loop from Third takes Freret along the back of A.L. Davis Park before turning toward the lake on Washington to return to Tapp’s II Bar, where the second line disbands.
