Wednesday at the Square Announces 2012 Lineup, Longer Concerts

The Wednesday at the Square concert series has announced its 2012, with headliners that include Trombone Shorty, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Marcia Ball, and more. The series begins March 14 with the Honey Island Swamp band and openers Soulabilly Swamp Boogie Band, and ends May 30 with Walter “Wolfman” Washington and opener Billy Iuso.

This will be the 13th year for the Wednesday at the Square concerts. The series is produced by the Young Leadership Council, who won the Community Music Award at this year’s Best of the Beat Business Awards. A welcome change this year is the addition of 30 minutes to each headlining set. Concerts this season will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. They take place every Wednesday from March 14 – May 30 on Lafayette Square.

May 16: Jeremy Davenport + The Breton Sound

May 23: Trombone Shorty + The Hot 8 Brass Band

May 30: Walter “Wolfman” Washington + Billy Iuso
