Ween Rumored to Play Megalomaniacs Ball in New Orleans

Rumor has it that Ween will be performing at the Howlin’ Wolf tomorrow night as part of the annual Megalomaniacs Ball. Sources have told OffBeat that the group–which reunited this past February following a three year hiatus–will be taking the stage for an unannounced set at the New Orleans venue on Wednesday, April 27.

Since announcing their first reunion concerts in November of 2015, the band has played a number of shows, including gigs at New York City’s Terminal 5 and the inaugural Okeechobee Festival. The group has also confirmed a few upcoming performances, with sets at Bonnaroo, Lockn’ Festival, the Project Pabst festival and more slated for this summer.

Ween features singer Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman, guitarist Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo, keyboardist Glenn McClelland, bassist Dave Dreiwitz, and drummer Claude Coleman Jr.

As previously reported, the Magalomaniacs Ball is currently scheduled to feature an appearance by the Deen Ween Group, a side project led by Melchiondo. Other acts on the lineup include Mike Dillon’s Punk Rock Percussion consortium, the Stanton Moore Trio and Illumunaughty Trio. The annual event takes place between the first and second weekend of Jazz Fest.

Tickets for the Megalomaniacs Ball are now on sale here.
