WTUL and Tipitina’s OK Go Video Contest: 2 Weeks Left to Enter

Pop/rock band OK Go have made a name for themselves in the modern music industry for their highly entertaining, cleverly choreographed music videos that have become viral phenomena on the web. Their latest, for the new punk/funk-inspired “White Knuckles,” took 12 dogs and 124 takes to nail in a single continuous shot.

OK Go is coming to Tipitina’s on November 6, and the club has teamed up with indie radio station WTUL for a viral-video promotion of a similar vein. Fans of the band are asked to create an OK Go-inspired music video of their own using music from the band’s latest album, Of the Blue Colour of the Sky. WTUL and Tipitina’s staffers will pick their favorite three videos, which will then be posted at the WTUL website for people to vote on a winner, who will receive a hefty prize package.

The winning filmmakers get 20 (!) VIP tickets to the November 6 concert at Tip’s, including getting to meet the band privately before the show. They also get 20 posters from the concert, 20 drink tickets (incentive for making a video on your own, without your friends’ help), 20 WTUL t-shirts and a screening of the winning video on stage before the start of the concert.

Video entries have to be completely original creations and must be no longer than 1 minute. No explicit material, and extra consideration will be given to videos that somehow involve Tipitina’s, WTUL, or OK Go.

You can go to WTUL’s website to get more info and upload your finished videos. All entries are due at 5 p.m. on Monday, October 11.

Good luck! Here are two of OK Go’s biggest viral music videos for inspiration:
