WWOZ welcomes new Development Director

WWOZ has brought on New Orleans native Marcel McGee as its new Development Director. He will take on his new role with the popular community radio station on Tuesday, August 1.

A graduate of Southern University at New Orleans and US Navy veteran, Marcel has 20 years of experience in donor relations and fundraising. In the past he has worked with Loyola University New Orleans, Dillard University, the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, American Red Cross-Southeast Louisiana Chapter, The Audubon Nature Institute and CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation in Maryland.

“We are thrilled to welcome Marcel as the newest Guardian of the Groove and are excited about his extensive local experience as a seasoned and successful fundraiser,” WWOZ General Manager Beth Arroyo Utterback said.

As previously reported, Utterback is also new to WWOZ. The former Chief operating Officer and Executive Vice President of local PBS affiliate WYES started her job on June 1. She replaced Arthur Cohen, who served as interim general manager after the controversial departure of longtime general manager David Freedman.
