YouTube du Jour: Jon Cleary’s Philthy Phew

Recently, Jon Cleary has reconnected to New Orleans R&B in a major way. At Jazz Fest, he announced that he was recording an album of classic compositions and played a killer set that rolled back the clock. His Philthy Phew plays that repertoire, and they’ll open for the Dirty Dozen Brass Band at Lafayette Square tonight as part of the Harvest the Music series. Here’s Cleary in Germany playing Earl King’s “Those Lonely, Lonely Nights” while a fog machine goes to work as if he’s Pink Floyd kicking into “The Great Gig in the Sky.”
