Tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday, a digitally restored version of Stevenson Palfi‘s documentary Piano Players Rarely Play Together will show at the Zeitgeist Multi-Disciplinary Arts Center (1618 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.) at 7:30 p.m. Also on the bill will be Palfi’s final finished work, the short The World According to Ernie K-Doe.

$40,000 was spent restoring Palfi’s ’82 film that tells the story of New Orleans R&B by interviewing three generations of piano players – Tuts Washington, Professor Longhair and Allen Toussaint. In this clip, Longhair explains his innovation, and Toussaint explains what he learned from him.

These showings will help support the non-profit video restoration efforts of the Southeast Media Preservation Lab. Tickets are $7 or free with a purchase of a DVD version of the documentary. For more information, visit AnalogLab.org.
