Last summer, producer Mark Ronson came to town to record “A La Modeliste” with Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Trombone Shorty, the Dap-Kings and drummer Zigaboo Modeliste. The track is part of the Re:Generation project, which paired producers with live musicians to create cross-genre collaborations. DJ Premier worked with NAS and the Berklee Symphony Orchestra, for instance, while the Crystal Method made a classic R&B track with Martha Reeves and the famed Motown house band, the Funk Brothers. Skrillex and Pretty Lights were also involved, and the results were filmed for a documentary that will show nationwide on February 16 and 23—in the New Orleans area, at the AMC Elmwood Plaza 20.

“A La Modeliste” will be included in ESPN’s day-long coverage of the BCS Championship Game broadcast, so keep an ear out for it. Above is the audio for the song, and here’s a trailer for the movie.
