Not to be confused with the Liuzza’s on Bienville St. (there’s no relation), Liuzza’s By the Track serves superbly prepared, casual New Orleans food in a bar within shouting distance of the Fair Grounds Race Course. The barbecue shrimp poor boy, loaded with sautéed shrimp and a peppery sauce, is reason enough to come. Try the roasted garlic butter on any sandwich, or on their outstanding French fries. Watch for early hours, though; the kitchen closes at 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 8:30 p.m. on weeknights.
