Anders Osborne Announces New Album, “Peace”

A song called “Peace” that opens with nearly a minute’s worth of pure feedback? You got it. That’s the title track of Anders Osborne’s new disc, which will be released on October 8 on Alligator Records.

Anders Osborne's Peace, due out October 8

After the opening blast, the new song hits a more contemplative groove, and finds Osborne once again being brutally frank about the addictions he’s overcome (“I’ve seen dirty needles turn into wisdom, I’ve seen love I don’t understand”). So it seems like a natural follow-up to 2010’s American Patchwork and last year’s Black Eye Galaxy, both among the most acclaimed albums of Osborne’s career.

Of the new album he says in a press release, “Peace is light from darkness. The songs are written from the outside looking in. They are not making any judgments. I’m just stating facts. I’m writing from a brighter perspective. There’s less dusk and dark, and much more sunlight. The results are greater than I expected. The driving tones and sounds are free and natural. This is one of the coolest records I’ve ever made.”

Osborne has been busy over the past year, releasing the EP Three Free Amigos at Jazz Fest and producing a number of albums, including Mia Borders’ new Quarter Life Crisis. Peace was recorded at Dockside Studios in Maurice, LA and produced by Osborne with Warren Riker.
