The traditional holiday season is officially over, which means it’s time for the New Orleans holiday season to begin.

Fat Tuesday isn’t until March 5, but Mardi Gras season will be in full swing this weekend when three celebrations roll across the city.

On Sunday, January 6, the Krewe of Joan of Arc rolls at 7 p.m. in the French Quarter.

Also on January 6, the Phunny Phorty Phellows will ride a streetcar on the St. Charles line at 7 p.m. to welcome Carnival season in Uptown. The costumed affair begins with a pre-party at the Willow Street Car Barn at 6:30 p.m. Mannie Fresh will also lead the new Funky Uptown Krewe as they ride a streetcar of their very own.

Lastly, the Société Des Champs Elysée will welcome Carnival season to Downtown New Orleans by riding a streetcar at 7:30p.m. Also a costumed event, this one rides from the Marigny to Union Station and back.

For those counting, January 6 is Twelfth Night.
