Jazz in the Park reveals spring concert lineup, announces Treme Crab Festival

People United for Armstrong Park has unveiled the lineup for Jazz in the Park’s spring 2017 season. The concert series will take place every Thursday from March 30 – June 1, and will be free and open to the public.

Jazz in the Park will kick off on March 30 with performances by Davell Crawford and Spodie & the Big Shots. Subsequent editions will include sets from the Preservation Hall All Stars, Kermit Ruffins, Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentlemen, Brassaholics, Bag of donuts, Russel Batiste & Friends and many more.

In addition to the weekly series, organizers will put on the Jazz in the Park Crab Festival, an event that will raise funds for the rest of the series. The gathering will take place from Friday, March 31 to Sunday, April 2, but only the Friday programming—featuring internationally renowned jazz artists Michael Franks and Roy Ayers—will be ticketed. Other performers at the festival include Rebirth Brass Band, Bag of Donuts, Corey Henry and the Treme Funktet, Johnny Sketch & The Dirty Notes, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Davell Crawford, Little Freddie King and more. Crab dishes from Food Drunk, Praline Connection and other vendors will also be available on site.
