New Orleans Film Society’s streaming channel benefits local filmmakers

The New Orleans Film Society has launched an online streaming channel, NOLA with LOVE.

Running through June 1 at web address nolalove.eventive.org, the channel features forty films by New Orleans filmmakers. All of the films were official selections of the 2019 New Orleans Film
Festival. Proceeds from NOLA with LOVE will benefit participating filmmakers, many of whom are local gig economy workers who have been laid off or lost contract work.

Passes for all films are available for $35. Access for a single-streaming viewing of the channel’s two feature films and eight short programs is $10. New Orleans Film Society members may
watch all of the channel’s offerings at no charge through May 10. The City of New Orleans and Fertel Foundation provided support for NOLA with LOVE.

The NOLA with LOVE catalog offers two feature-length and thirty-eight short films. Features include The Long Shadow, winner of the best Louisiana feature film jury award and Last Call for
the Bayou, a documentary that tells five stories about how coastal land loss has affected Louisiana residents.

NOLA with LOVE’s short films are packaged in the same eight shorts programs they were programmed at the 2019 festival; Sweet Home New Orleans, Gris Gris Gumbo Ya Ya, Late Night
Shorts, Life on the Bayou, Experimental Voices, Guilded Splinters, Right Place Wrong Time and a bonus package featuring a new compilation of short films from 2019.

The Late Night Shorts program includes Valerio’s Day Out, winner of the best Louisiana short jury award and short film special jury award for directing at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival,
and Date Movie, winner of the audience award for best Louisiana short.

The New Orleans Film Society will present live Q&As with some of the participating filmmakers at Instagram channel @neworleansfilmsociety throughout May. These will be announced through the film society’s newsletters and social media accounts.

The New Orleans Film Festival is accepting submissions for its 32nd festival through filmfreeway.com/NewOrleansFilmFestival through June 21st. More information on the series and on membership is here.
