All-New Orleans Cast Hosts New Play, “Badu-Izms” This Weekend

More than just a tribute show, “Badu-iZms” is a musical revue built around the music and mystique of Erykah Badu. Playwright and local New Orleanian, Pamela Davis-Noland wrote the piece, which actually debuted its prelude at the 2010 New Orleans Fringe Festival, and recruited cast members including Stylist B, Iris P, Tarriona “Tank” Ball, and Amanda “LizK” Winfield.

“A Music Video on Stage” is the best way to describe this visually stunning tribute to ERYKAH BADU. Writer/Producer, Pamela Davis-Noland has a winning musical on her hands. Her New Orleans style tribute to Ms. Badu has gained a huge following in both Louisiana and Texas. Some of New Orleans ‘& Houston’s most exceptionally talented entertainers have graced the” Badu-iZms” stage and WOW’d the audience with songs and skits motivated by the rousing lyrics of “The Queen of Neosoulfunkinizms.”

The all-New Orleans crew also includes hairstylist Brenda Jones, make-up artist Ronda Marie Simmons, lighting and sound designer John Moore of OnyxPro1, and director/choreographer Stylist B. Cast members include: Austin Blackwell, Ryan “Fedi” Davis, Tonya B. Cannon, Natasha Wilson and more.

“Badu-iZms” shows this weekend, March 29 – March 31 with 5pm and 8pm shows daily at Café Istanbul (inside the New Orleans Healing Arts Center located at 2372 St. Claude Ave). Tickets are $20 advance or $25 at the door.

The opening night party with the cast and crew will take place at 10pm on Friday, March 29, immediately following the 8pm opening night performance, also at Cafe Istanbul. All are welcome.
