For the third year in a row, The People Say Project will present its annual Backyard Cut Session on Saturday, July 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at 4636 South Saratoga Street.

Started in 2011 by Brian Boyles and Jarret Lofstead as a series of live interviews with an eclectic range of artists, the People Say Project evolved to be a platform for production of live events and digital content focusing on culture and money from many different perspectives.
Past initiatives include thought-provoking discussions, partnership with universities, and participation in local festivals such as the Tennessee Williams Festival and the New Orleans Film Festival.
With its third Backyard Cut Session, the People Say Project once again shines a light on the diverse New Orleans DJ culture. Usually playing at clubs, house parties or for special events, local artists such as DJ Maxmillion, DJ Rik Ducci, DJ Yamin, DJ Justin Thomas and DJ Brian Boyles will spin vinyl and fill the night with remixes of New Orleans funk and R&B classics.
Entry for the event is free, but all donations are welcome and will directly go to the Freret Neighborhood Center and NOLA Mix, program providing music production workshops and DJ classes to children, students and adults.
