WWII Air, Sea & Land Festival brings living history to New Orleans in October

Over the course of three days this October, the New Orleans Lakefront Airport will transform into the grounds of the WWII Air, Sea & Land Festival.

The event takes place October 12-14 and features WWII-era attractions like warbird planes, a PT-305 boat, entertainment from the 1940s and interviews with veterans. The family-friendly affair includes activities for kids which bring history to life through demonstrations, re-enactments, an obstacle course and more. Elsewhere, dockside tours provide a walk through the world’s only fully restored, combat-veteran patrol-torpedo boat.

According to organizers, aircraft will continue to be the foundation of the festival. “Guests can experience WWII planes up close in multiple ways—either via tour, an incredible ride flight, or even low passes overhead throughout the weekend and especially during a two-hour aerial demonstration every afternoon,” says the Festival website.

Organized by the National WWII Museum, Commemorative Air Force and Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, the 5th Annual WWII Air, Sea & Land Festival is free for kids aged 12 and under. General admission tickets range from $20 to $25 and are available here. Folks have the option to upgrade to a VIP Experience package, which ranges from $50 to $210 and includes the following:
