For a craftsperson, there’s nothing worse than the loss of one’s hands, the tools of one’s trade. And for a musician, the same is true for one’s ears, their own most-prized tools, and the source of so much of their joy.

Recently, DJ Kristen—well known for the raucous Mod Dance Party shows she throws every month with DJ Matty—suffered an ear infection that left her without hearing in one ear. Doctors believe the use of her ear will return, but her time spent in the hospital has left her with hefty bills to pay.

To help out, some of her friends are throwing a benefit party Saturday, July 30 at Mod Dance Party headquarters, the Saturn Bar. Guitar Lightning Lee will perform before a string of DJs, including Michael Bateman, DJ Lingerie, Maddie Ruthless, DJ Bunny, DJ Pasta, Dr. Ike, Andy Rotzz, and Lefty Parker.

A $5 cover fee will go to DJ Kristen, but further donations are of course encouraged. For those who can’t attend, donations can also be made online. For more info, see the event page on Facebook.
