Broussard’s Restaurant is turning 100 and celebrating all through 2020

A French Quarter staple in Creole and French cuisine is about to ring in the big 1-0-0. The historic, award-winning Broussard’s Restaurant and Courtyard will celebrate a century not just for a night, or a weekend.. They’re celebrating all year.

Kicking off of the celebratory events properly with a 100-glass champagne toast, Broussard’s will host an array of events both in house and throughout the community all 2020. Look forward to specialty menus and drink menus representing cocktails throughout the decades. Executive Chef Jimi Setchim is prepped for the party, saying “I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to create the special menus for this coming year that will both honor and celebrate the past while ‘moving forward’ for the next 100 years.” Chef Setchim did his homework for the year-long festivities by spending time researching old menus at the Historic New Orleans Collection.

Broussard’s opened its doors in 1920. Local chef Joseph Broussard married Rosalie Borrello and the newlyweds moved into the Borello family mansion (ca-ching!) on Conti Street, built in 1834 and where the restaurant still stands. The two made their home an apartment above the restaurant. A true family business, the two worked endlessly day and night to create the gem that still sits there today. Broussard paired his formal Parisian culinary training with local Creole cuisine and voila, magic. After their passing, the five-star family run establishment  went into the hands of long-time steward Joseph Segretto, and since 2013 has been owned by the Ammari Family. “It is an honor to be a steward of the culinary traditions of this important restaurant” said Marv Ammari, Chief Executive Officer of Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts. “With specialty menus and events taking place all year, the whole community will celebrate with us.”
