Buffett, Toussaint Raise Awareness in Gulf Shores

[UPDATED] Jimmy Buffett has long been identified with the Gulf Coast and life on the water, so it’s no surprise that on Thursday, July 1, he’s hosting Jimmy Buffett and Friends: Live from the Gulf Coast. The show will be a free beach-side concert in Gulf Shores, Alabama that will be broadcast on CMT at 7 p.m. Central, with guests Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown, Allen Toussaint, Sonny Landreth, Jesse Winchester and more. The show will be simulcast on Sirius’ Radio Margaritaville and streamed live at CMT.com.

The show’s an awareness-raiser to help the rest of the country understand the impact of the BP oil disaster on the Gulf Coast region. “There are always welcome breaks in every storm but the unfortunate reality is that this disaster is not going away for a while,” says Buffett. “But a few hours of fun, void of the constant reminders of the situation, is a good thing and that is basically what I do.”
