John Rankin, Detroit & Kanako Brooks and more set for Covenant House benefit

On Saturday, October 6, Buffa’s will host a benefit concert for Covenant House, a homeless youth center. There, a line-up of local musicians will perform acoustic sets to raise money for the organization. Detroit & Kanako Brooks, John Rankin, Dr. Michael Torregano Sr., Arsene DeLay, Cole Williams, Carmela Rappazzo, Keith Porteous, Mark Carroll and Freddie Blue & The Friendship Circle are on the bill for the “Gimme Shelter” concert.

Covenant House opens its doors to 800 youth who’ve been left homeless, much of time because of abuse, violence and trauma. According to its website, “young people come to Covenant House day and night and are accepted without question or cost.” Founded in 1987, Covenant House operates with the following mission:

“We who recognize God’s providence and fidelity to His people are dedicated to living out His Covenant among ourselves and those children we serve, with absolute respect and unconditional love. This commitment calls us to serve suffering children of the street, and to protect and safeguard all children. Just as Christ in His Humanity is the visible sign of God’s presence among His people, so our efforts together in the covenant community are a visible sign that effects the presence of God, working through the Holy Spirit among ourselves and our kids.”

At the October 6 benefit concert, cash, check and credit-card donations will be accepted on behalf of Covenant House.

Buffa’s is located at 1001 Esplanade Ave.
