Keller Williams’ bluegrass tribute to the Grateful Dead is coming to New Orleans

Keller Williams, a multi-instrumentalist known for his one-man-band shows and his vast catalog of themed albums, will bring his bluegrass tribute to the Grateful Dead to New Orleans’ Joy Theater on Thursday, October 26.

Dubbed “Grateful Grass,” the project has featured a rotating cast of musicians over the years, including members of The String Cheese Incident, Leftover Salmon and the Infamous Stringdusters. The upcoming New Orleans edition of the show will find Williams joined by Jeff Austin, Jay Starling and Danton Boller. Austin is the leader of the Jeff Austin Band and a former frontman for Yonder Mountain String Band, while Starling perform Love Canon, a Virginia group known for their string band renditions of ‘80s hits.

Williams just announced a series of fall tour dates that will bring him across much of the United States from September through November, but only four of those gigs will focus on the music of the Grateful Dead. Williams has brought his Grateful Grass shows to a number of festivals over the years, such as Lockn’, Electric Forest and Gathering of the Vibes.

Tickets for Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass at the Joy Theater will go on sale on Friday, July 14.
