Krewe of O.A.K. Rolls For Mid-Summer Mardi Gras

The 29th annual Krewe of O.A.K. (“Outrageous And Kinky”) Mid-Summer Mardi Gras parade rolls on Oak Street this Saturday, August 29th at 7:30 p.m. sharp, with the traditional balcony toast beforehand at the Maple Leaf at 7 p.m.

The Carrollton-based krewe of krazie’s 2015 theme is “Motorboatin’ on Oak” (in tribute to the ‘Leaf back in Katrina time) and costumes are highly encouraged. As usual, the event is free.

Their new parade route goes down Oak Street and Carrollton Avenue and back again, with a stop at Palmer Park. Concessions are available, but BYOB is okay as well. (“When the police sirens go off, it’s time to leave.”)

The Maple Leaf will be closed that evening for a private event for partypeeps, but the krewe strongly advises parade-goers to help them keep the party rolling into the night at the many bars and eateries elsewhere in the neighborhood.
