New Orleans Film Festival will honor Oscar-nominated Terence Blanchard

At this year’s 30th Annual New Orleans Film Festival, a hometown hero will be honored with a Career Achievement Award. Multiple Grammy-winning, Oscar-nominated New Orleans native composer Terence Blanchard will be the guest of honor at a special ceremony celebrating his achievements in film composition.

Among other accolades (including his recent Oscar nomination for his work on the soundtrack to Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman), Blanchard composed the music for the critically acclaimed film Harriet. That film is the Closing Night Selection for this year’s film festival, which runs October 16-23.

As previously reported by OffBeat.com, this year’s New Orleans Film Festival features the debut of its Music Initiative Program, described as “designed to connect Louisiana musicians to film & TV music supervisors from New York and Los Angeles, during the festival.”
