The Original Meters to Reunite for Jazz Fest After Show

Art Neville, George Porter Jr., Leo Nocentelli and Joseph “Zigaboo” Modeliste will reunite as The Original Meters on Friday, April 22 at the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans.  The pioneering funk outfit will be joined by special guest Ivan Neville, as well as a horn section comprised of Tracy Griffin, Jeff Albert, Khris Royal and Clarence Johnson III.

The Original Meters have returned to the stage sporadically since their first reunion San Francisco’s Warfield Theater in 2000, making rare appearances at storied venues like Bonnaroo, Voodoo Fest, Jazz Fest and the Hollywood Bowl.

The upcoming show, which is slated to take place after the first day of the 2016 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, will mark the group’s first performance since their May 3, 2015 set on Jazz Fest’s Acura Stage. It will also open the first Jazz Fest season at the newly renovated Orpheum Theater.

A limited number of pre-sale tickets for the reunion show will go on sale tomorrow, January 13 at 10am CT. The code for the pre-sale will be “CARDOVA” (make sure you use all caps). Tickets will then go on sale to the general public on Friday, January 15 at 10am CT via the Orpheum Theater. Additionally, tickets will be available on site beginning two hours priors to the performance, though those tickets will be subject to availability.
