I walked through Bayou Boogaloo yesterday evening, and noticed that most trash and recycling bins on site were full, and people were discarding their trash on the ground and the streets adjacent to the festival grounds. In several locations I saw shattered glass bottles on the streets adjacent to the bayou. I think this festival needs a better initiative to discourage littering along the bayou. There seems to have been a Mardi Gras-related mentality that one can just toss their refuse anywhere, which I don’t think is a good thing, and probably extends itself beyond Mardi Gras and festivals such as Bayou Boogaloo provided the litter issue in this city. Littering at a free festival seems mighty disrespectful to me.
