Leroy Jones, Gregg Stafford & Dr. Michael White To Celebrate Putumayo’s 25th Anniversary

Putumayo World Music is celebrating 25 years of releasing global music with a special event and album-release party featuring performances from international legends hailing from right here in Louisiana. On Thursday, May 17, the Little Gem Saloon will host the affair, proceeds of which will benefit the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic. Dr. Michael White, Gregg Stafford and special guest Leroy Jones will perform.

In addition to tipping a hat to a quarter century, the label will also celebrate the forthcoming May 25 release of the compilation album New Orleans Party. The LP, which is a nod to the city’s tricentennial, features a bevy of local icons like Dave Bartholomew, Dr. John, Dr. Michael White with Gregg Stafford, “Big Al” Carson, Leroy Jones, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band featuring Duke Dejan and more.

May 17’s event runs from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Tickets are available here for $20 in advance and will cost $25 at the door. The Little Gem Saloon is located at 445 S. Rampart St.
