Satchmo Summerfest Announces 2015 Lineup

The 15th annual Satchmo Summerfest returns to the Old U.S. Mint on July 31-August 2 for a celebration of Louis Armstrong’s life and legacy.

Deacon John, Rebirth Brass Band, James Andrews, and Donald Harrison are among the artists set to open the festival on Friday, July 31.

Highlights of the festival’s second day, August 1, include a tribute to Trumpet Black featuring Corey Henry and the Treme Funktet, as well as a special performance by singer Jewel Brown, who performed and traveled with Louis Armstrong’s band during the 1960s.

Kermit Ruffins, Jeremy Davenport, Free Agents Brass Band, and Shannon Powell are among the artists to close out the festival on Sunday, August 2.

For the first time in the festival’s 15 year history, attendees will have to pay a $5 daily admission fee, while children under the age of 12 still get in free.
