The Soul Rebels to team up with Galactic for Hurricane Florence benefit

10-4-18-galactic-soul-rebs-benefit-posterHurricane Florence devastated parts of the Southeast last month, causing mandatory evacuations and drastic flooding, particularly in the Carolinas. In solidarity with the millions affected, Tipitina’s will host a benefit concert featuring Galactic and The Soul Rebels, with support from Miss Mojo.

This Thursday, October 4, the bands will put on performances to raise money for The Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI). According to Tip’s, RAFI ” believes in order to ensure a safe, adequate supply of healthy food, we must protect farm workers and encourage environmentally sound farming. RAFI’s mission is to cultivate markets, policies, and communities that support thriving, socially just, and environmentally sound family farms.”

One of Florence’s effects was the widespread flooding of farm land, resulting in the loss of crops, animals and buildings. With advocates on the ground surveying damage as we speak, RAFI is one of the many organizations aiming to get the Carolinas back up and running in the wake of the massive storm. Concert goers can directly contribute to those efforts by purchasing tickets to October 4’s show. Advance tickets are $20 and available here. At the door, they’ll be $25.
