Lenny McDaniel is happier than he's been in a long time.

His CD is selling well, and its title track, Tired Angels, was voted song of the year at the 1997 OffBeat awards. His songs have been picked up by music publisher Bug Music, and work on his next CD is going well.

It's a far cry from when he first arrived in New Orleans after his father's death four years ago to find his family home a shambles, and his career seemingly right back where it was when he left for L.A. a decade before.
