My Music: Jerry Jumonville

I’m an Uptown boy. I grew in the Carrollton area near St. Charles; I guess we call it Riverbend now. My daddy owned a hobby shop on Freret Street by Napoleon. The year between junior high and high school, during my summer vacation, I got my mother to borrow a saxophone from one of her friends, whose son got more interested in playing football than making music. That was my first alto.
