What did you order today?

Basic breakfast, two eggs with hash browns, bacon and biscuits. I like the basics, especially when I’ve never tried a place before. If they can’t cook two eggs properly, I probably won’t have time for the rest of it.

Are you a basic kind of eater?

I’m typically an adventurous eater. My friend Orly Vega and I recently started a pop-up restaurant called Congreso Cubano. I’m cooking a lot of food that I did not grow up around, and loving it. I’m Jewish, so my grandmother might be shaking her wooden spoon at me to see 40 pounds of pork slow-cooking in mojo in my oven.

Do you have a go-to meal before a show?

I play in a high-energy Afro-Brazilian drumming group called BateBunda and in a crazy rock band called Freckle. Both require mad carbs and protein. Either way, I’m eating a BLT on an everything bagel. That dish is kind of like me. Kinda Jew-y, a little bit of a bad idea, but bold.
