The Alliance Française de La Nouvelle-Orléans invites the community to one of the city’s most anticipated summer events: Bastille Day Fête.
This open-air celebration honors the spirit of liberty, culture, and joie de vivre with an evening full of French music, food, and community. Guests will step into a charming, village-style atmosphere adorned with string lights and a vibrant dance floor under the stars.
The event will feature live French music, curated local food and craft vendors, fine French wine, and an authentic celebration of French heritage — all in the heart of New Orleans. Whether a Francophile, cultural enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique night out, the Bastille Day Fête offers a joyful, family-friendly setting to celebrate France’s national holiday — and the deep cultural ties between France and New Orleans.
Bastille Day is the common name given in English-speaking countries to the national day of France, which is celebrated on 14 July each year. It is referred to, both legally and commonly, as le 14 juillet in French, though la fête nationale is also used in the press. French National Day is the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, a major event of the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération that celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790. Celebrations are held throughout France. One that has been reported as “the oldest and largest military parade in Europe” is held on 14 July on the Champs-Élysées in Paris in front of the President of France, along with other French officials and foreign guests.
The annual Bastille Day Fête will take place on Friday, July 11 at 1519 Jackson Avenue. For tickets and information, click here.
