Bonerama will unleash its eighth major release in its 28-year history features a range of New Orleans musicians will debut next month, with guest appearances by Trombone Shorty, Ivan Neville, Cyril Neville, Omari Neville, Stanton Moore, Johnny Sansone, River Eckert and Jordan Anderson.
The group’s previous full-length release, Bonerama Plays Zeppelin (Basin Street Records), was among the best-selling albums at Jazz Fest in 2019. That same year, Bonerama released the single “Empty World (So Much Love)” as a tribute to Allen Toussaint, featuring vocals by Michael McDonald.
For the 2026 release, the band has recorded a new version of “Empty World (So Much Love),” this time featuring vocals by Jordan Anderson.
Formed in 1998 by trombonists Mark Mullins and Craig Klein, the band is currently comprised of Mullins (founding member, trombone, electric trombone and lead vocals), Greg Hicks (trombone and vocals), Chris Butcher (trombone), Bert Cotton (guitar), Matt Perrine (sousaphone) and Eric Bolivar (drums).
Over the years, Bonerama has joined forces with many prominent musicians on stage or in the studio such as R.E.M., Little Feat, OKGo, Nicole Atkins, George Porter Jr., The Radiators, Ivan Neville, Galactic and many more. Whoever Bonerama teams-up with gets an interesting and personal take on Bonerama’s style of music infusing a piece of their own genetics into the band vibe of whoever they are joining. Simply put, Bonerama’s sound is a mélange unlike anything else.
The new album, titled So Much Love, will be released April 24. It was was mixed and co-produced by Tracey Freeman at Esplanade Studios.
