A new wave of New Orleans talent is stepping into the spotlight this spring with the debut of Future Legends Fest, a one-day, two-stage music festival dedicated to showcasing the city’s rising artists.
Set for Saturday, May 9, the weekend after Jazz Fes, tthe event will take over The Howlin’ Wolf with a full afternoon and evening of music. Doors open at 2 p.m., with performances running from 3 to 11 p.m.
Future Legends Fest isn’t just another local show—it’s a purposeful platform designed to expand the fan bases of some of the city’s most promising young musicians while putting them directly in front of festival coordinators, artist managers, and music industry professionals. With eight bands performing across two stages, the event aims to bridge the gap between grassroots talent and larger opportunities.
The lineup reflects the diversity and vitality of New Orleans’ evolving sound, featuring Pocket Chocolate, Shawan Rice, Wolfe Johns, Nina Hungerland & Family, Kota Dosa, Joey Houck, Atom Cat, and Dan Souvigny’s New Organ Trio. Together, these artists represent a cross-section of genres and influences, all rooted in the unmistakable musical DNA of the city.
Organizers emphasize that the festival is as much about community as it is about discovery. By creating a space where emerging artists can be heard by both new audiences and industry insiders, Future Legends Fest is investing in the sustainability of New Orleans music culture—ensuring that the traditions that have captivated the world continue to grow and evolve.
“This is about the future of New Orleans music,” organizers note. “We want to give these incredible musicians the exposure they deserve while also connecting them with the people who can help take their careers to the next level.”
In the spirit of that mission, organizers are actively seeking support from local media, radio programs, and community platforms to help spread the word. Participating artists are available for interviews, guest appearances, and even live performances to give audiences a preview of what to expect.
As the city transitions out of Jazz Fest season, Future Legends Fest offers a chance to look ahead—celebrating not just where New Orleans music has been, but where it’s going.
