Halloween may be spooky season, but in New Orleans, the celebration stretches well past October 31 with events that honor the veil between worlds—whether you’re dancing on rooftops, raising a glass to the dead, or communing with ancestors.
Kick things off at NOPSI Hotel’s THRILLER Halloween Rooftop Party, where guests can dance the night away under the stars. With a live DJ spinning spooky hits, themed cocktails in hand, and a costume contest offering prizes for the top looks, this sky-high soirée promises a frightfully fun start to the weekend.
Above the Grid, NOPSI Hotel | Friday, Oct. 31 | 8 p.m.–12 a.m. | $25 admission
If you prefer your Halloween with a splash of mystery and mixology, Black Lagoon has transformed Anna’s into a darkly immersive pop-up bar through November 2. Created by bar industry luminaries Erin Hayes and Kelsey Ramage, this limited-time experience features eerie décor and cocktails with names like Griselda’s Revenge and Nocturna Colada—perfect for sipping in the shadows.
Anna’s, 2601 Royal St | Open through Nov. 2
Then, as Halloween ends and the calendar turns to November, step into a sacred space of remembrance at the Day of the Dead/Fet Gede celebration at the New Orleans Healing Center. Hosted by La Source Ancienne Ounfo, this free community event honors the spirits of the departed with altars, art, live drumming, and a traditional Vodou ceremony led by Sallie Ann Glassman. Guests are encouraged to wear white with purple or black, bring offerings, and join the procession to feed and praise the beloved Dead.
New Orleans Healing Center, 2372 St. Claude Ave | Saturday, Nov. 1 | 5 p.m.–10:30 p.m. | Free & open to the public
