Jazz Bounce Lounge returns to the Toulouse Theatre this weekend the with performances by HaSizzle, Only Heaven, BJ So Cole, Quentin Alexander, Mecca Notes, 504icygrl, Thee Magnolias, Junior Wilson and DJ Chi NOLA. These artists have put together a “crossover genre” and demonstrate what New Orleans music can be at a moment when culture is shifting around them.
The Jazz Bounce Lounge has become one of the most talked about creative experiences in the city. For anyone who cares about where music is heading or wants to witness a genre before it becomes part of the global vocabulary, this might be the place to be.
Created by New Orleans artist and producer Mikecol (pictured in the lead photo) with Newtral Groundz Music, Jazz Bounce blends the swing of jazz with the heartbeat of bounce, layered with R&B warmth and modern digital production. With more than 300,000 monthly listeners and millions of streams built before his first live performance, Mikecol represents the evolution of the modern New Orleans artist.
The city’s response to the movement was immediate. As listeners connected deeply with the early tracks and began sharing, requesting performances, and building community around the sound, that love naturally led to the creation of the Lounge. The Lounge is a music experience built around the genre’s energy, creativity, and the growing audience discovering it together. After two sold out shows, the Jazz Bounce Lounge is now preparing for its third edition and closing out the year with its most anticipated lineup yet.
“Jazz Bounce is New Orleans innovating again,” says Mikecol. “It is our history, our rhythm, and our future all in one.”
This event takes place Friday, Dec. 12 form 9 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Toulouse Theatre, 615 Toulouse Street. Limited tickets are available here.
