Kristin Diable Returns with ‘Impossible Things’

Singer-songwriter Kristin Diable returns with Impossible Things, a new album shaped by “a period of profound personal and professional change.”

Following the success of her Dave Cobb–produced Create Your Own Mythology, which earned national attention from outlets like NPR and led to appearances at Jazz Fest and Austin City Limits, Diable stepped away from recording as her life shifted dramatically. In the years since, she navigated motherhood, personal loss, and major life transitions that ultimately informed the new material.

Recorded at Dockside Studio with producer Ben Alleman, Impossible Things finds Diable expanding her sound while staying rooted in Southern songwriting traditions. The album explores themes of grief, resilience, and rebuilding, marking a more introspective chapter in her catalog.

Rather than a departure, the record feels like a continuation—one that reflects both the weight of recent years and a renewed commitment to her craft.

Diable began her musical career as a young teenager in south Louisiana playing underground clubs. She moved to New York City at the age of 18, expanding her musical palette and garnering mainstream music industry attention for the first time. Despite numerous well-received concerts and collaborations with local artists, she followed her muse back to her native Louisiana in the late-2000s. She released a solo EP titled Extended Play in 2009 via Speakeasy Records. Three years later she released an album titled Kristin Diable and the City via Speakeasy Records  garnering critical regional acclaim. Songs from the album were featured on HBO’s “True Blood” and “Treme” television series.
