#CreateLouisiana has partnered with Tulane University’s Digital Media Practices (DMP) program to launch the Film Gear Access Grant, a new initiative designed to provide Louisiana filmmakers with free access to professional-grade film equipment. The program stems from Tulane’s recent Louisiana Entertainment Development Fund award, part of a statewide initiative to modernize cinema technology and expand educational opportunities for the next generation of storytellers.
The Film Gear Access Grant offers DMP’s stock of industry-standard filmmaking gear – including new professional cameras and lenses, sound recording devices, and lighting – at no cost during the summer months to the Louisiana filmmaking community.
“We are so excited to continue to expand DMP and create new opportunities to access industry grade equipment for our students and the greater Louisiana filmmaking community,” said Casey Beck, the program’s director. “We know there are many talented independent filmmakers in the state who will capitalize on this expansion to tell the important stories of our time.”
Through this partnership, Tulane will manage and maintain the equipment while making it available to independent filmmakers at no cost—a meaningful investment in Louisiana’s creative infrastructure. The program also maximizes the use of Tulane’s resources during academic breaks and the summer months, when local filmmakers can benefit most.
“#CreateLouisiana is proud to partner with Tulane to support local artists,” said Julie Bordelon, Executive Director at #CreateLouisiana. “By giving filmmakers access to professional gear, we’re breaking down barriers and empowering storytellers across the state to create authentic films.”
Louisiana-based filmmakers interested in accessing the Tulane equipment package, including Producers, Directors, Directors of Photography, Editors, and Production Designers, can apply through the #CreateLouisiana Film Gear Access Grant. The program provides complimentary access to gear to support both short and feature-length film projects during the summer season.
Applications open Sept. 1, 2025, with a deadline of Dec. 1, 2025. Click here for more information and to apply.
