The Second Line Arts Collective (SLAC), in partnership with the New Orleans Public Library, is launching the Little Stompers Library Series, a free interactive music program for children ages 1–5 and their caregivers.
The series will take place at three libraries across New Orleans. Part 1 kicks off at Algiers Regional Library (3014 Holiday Dr.) with sessions on Saturdays, October 4, 11, 18, 25, November 1, and November 8. Each date features 30-minute classes grouped by age: Big Easy Rascals (12–23 months) at 10:15 am, Swamp Stompers (2–3 years) at 11 am, and Mardi Gras Mambos (3–5 years) at 11:45 am.
Additional sessions are planned for Spring 2026 and Summer 2026 at two other New Orleans library branches, with locations and dates to be announced.
For families unable to attend in person, SLAC also offers free virtual lesson plans led by New Orleans artist Robin Barnes.
“This isn’t just about teaching music; it’s about spreading love for our culture and creating the next generation of listeners, supporters and advocates for the arts,” said SLAC Executive Director Darrian Douglas in a press release.
