A new concert series will honor the late Christopher Stafford, the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, producer and creative force behind Feufollet and Staffland Studio. The inaugural Staffland Stages: Chapter One – The Roots & Branches of Feufollet takes place over two nights, celebrating Stafford’s vast network of musical collaborators and his boundary-pushing approach to sound.
While Stafford is most often remembered for his role in redefining modern Cajun music, his artistry defied genre lines. His influence stretched across classic country and western, 60’s garage rock, new wave, folk, zydeco and blues, creating a rich, genre-bending body of work that inspired a generation of Louisiana musicians.
The first installment of this annual fundraiser series focuses on Feufollet, Stafford’s longest-running project, and the close-knit circle of friends and collaborators who shared his stage and studio. The lineup includes performances by Givers, Brass Bed, Cedric Watson, Steve Riley, and a special Feufollet reunion, featuring Anna Laura Edmiston, Chris Segura, Kelli Jones, Dr. Josh Caffery, Mike Stafford, Andrew Toups, Taylor Guarisco, Philippe Billeaudeaux, John Troutman and Andy Bianculli. Special guests Elise Riley and Blake Miller will also join the celebration.
Organizers say the series is meant not only to remember Christopher Stafford but also to inspire audiences to “dig deeper,” exploring the threads that wove together his diverse musical life. Future chapters of Staffland Stages are expected to highlight other aspects of his far-reaching artistry.
The event will take place Aug. 22-23 at Acadiana Center for the Arts, 101 West Vermilion Street, Lafayette, LA. Tickets are $29-$49 and may be purchased here.
