Streaming Now: Jessica Biel Tackles French Quarter Murder in New Doc Episode

A new series executive produced and narrated by Jessica Biel is now available to stream on HBO Max.

Investigation Discovery’s Fatal Destination features exotic destinations, where the consequences of being a tourist are “anything but a dream vacation.” Stories unfold through first-person accounts of friends, family, locals, journalists and law enforcement.

In the episode “Blood on Bourbon Street,”  the murder of Shawn Johnson in 2003 is examined. Johnson was found in a hotel room under bizarre circumstances: a blood-filled hot tub, Bible pages on the walls and a voodoo doll on the bed. Surveillance footage shows the victim entering with four “goth” individuals earlier that night. The case leads detectives into New Orleans’ subcultures and across state lines, uncovering themes of identity, manipulation, and ritualistic violence.

“I have always been fascinated by the complexities behind true crime – what drives a person to commit such a heinous act, the dogged investigators that work diligently to solve the cases, and of course, the devastating impact on the loved ones left behind,”Biel said in a press release. “While I have performed in several scripted crime series, Fatal Destination marks my first foray into executive producing unscripted true crime content, so partnering with ID, the leader in the genre, has been a dream come true in the process of exposing real-life nightmares.”
